Both offenses were relatively subdued at Minneapolis Grounds. Fortunately for the Tucson Toros, though, Jose Pedroza was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times, to lead his team past the Minneapolis Vikings, 3-1. Ryan Lloyd, the winner, is now 10-5. He struck out 5 and walked 1 over 5.1 innings, while allowing no runs on 3 hits. Kevin Newton closed it out for Tucson, earning his 1st save.
In the first inning, Pedroza had a run-scoring triple for Tucson. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Toros on top, 1-0.
"I felt good up there," said Pedroza. "I saw the ball well."
Tucson, at 83-76, occupies third place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division.
