Kodiaks Need Extra Innings to Top Destroyers, 7-6
|
San Diego third baseman Phil Swyers had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Alaska at Seaward Stadium. Swyers was 2 for 5 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Earning his 6th save of the year was Joseph Diadoni. At 76-84, Alaska is in 4th place in the Western Conference Ricardo Icamén Division.
Alaska needed the clutch hitting of Ryan McCray to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Kodiaks on top, 7-6. For the game, McCray had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"Our team showed some gumption," said McCray. "I like it."
