Fondin Hits Two Dingers, Lobster Win, 14-4
|
The Maine Lobster soundly defeated the Tucson Toros, 14-4, at Aetna Stadium, with catcher Roberto Fondin a major reason why. He went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice for Maine. Jesus Meza picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Tony Masso was tagged with the loss. Maine, at 89-71, occupies first place in the Eastern Conference Jossue Lopez Division.
With Maine leading 5-4 in the top of the fifth, Fondin hit a changeup from Jason Allen for a grand slam home run. It was his 30th home run of the season and put the Lobster ahead, 9-4.
"It's disappointing, but we have to move on," Tucson manager Rick Barnes said: "You're going to have games like that."
