Senators Edge Boston in Pitching Duel
|
Vinny Valdez was nothing short of phenomenal for the Washington Senators. The 24-year-old right-hander was a big reason his team beat the Boston Greens, 1-0. The last-place Senators now have a record of 65-96.
The Senators got a big at-bat from third baseman Jeff Crandall. For the game, Crandall went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Washington a 1-0 lead.
"Baseball is a funny game," said Crandall. "You've got to keep battling until things fall your way."
