Toros Defeated, 3-2
|
The Washington Senators picked up a win at Aetna Stadium, dropping the Tucson Toros, 3-2. Les Ralph, who leads the EC in strikeouts with 79, was the difference-maker. Keung King picked up the save for Washington, his 10th of the year. Washington, now 22-30, holds down third place in the Eastern Conference Rex Rawnsley Division.
Washington used a clutch at-bat from Danny Mrazek to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Senators ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Senators manager Josh Cooan. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
