Athletics Deny Thunderbirds, 3-2
|
The Kansas City Athletics earned a close win over the Phoenix Thunderbirds, thanks in part to Alex Laso. The Kansas City left-hander, who finished 5th in the EC in wins with 15 in 2081, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Laso, now 11-9, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Chase Kessler got the save, the 30th for him this season.
Henry Sosa had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fifth for Kansas City. With the bases loaded and the Athletics leading 2-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Sosa.
The Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division-leading Athletics are 93-69.
