Miami Wins, 4-3, Over Avispas
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Miami Cyclones and Santiago Avispas.
The Cyclones grabbed a win, 4-3, at Kroger Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Santiago pitcher Mario Carrisalez. Carrisalez went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Miami reliever Clement Powell picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Chris Knarr was saddled with the loss. Danny Rangel sewed up the save, his 11th.
In the bottom of the fifth, Omar Monge delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Miami third baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Cyclones in front, 4-3.
"Bottom line," said Santiago skipper Jacob Pauly, "we didn't play well enough to win."
With the win over Santiago, the Cyclones improved to 72-90.
