Senators Claim Late Win
|
Washington and Vancouver played a hard-fought contest.
The Washington Senators, despite a fine performance by Vancouver pitcher John Goeman, grabbed a 3-1 win at Fox-Chong Park. Goeman allowed no runs over 6.1 innings. Washington reliever Miguel Fajardo picked up the win. Jesus Carbajal, who finished 5th in the EC in ERA with 3.13 in 2074, took the loss for Vancouver. Rogelio Domínguez notched his 14th save of the season.
Zheng-ze Gu came through with a big-time hit for Washington. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Tough loss," said Vancouver manager Zach Meinen. "But we'll learn from it."
Washington has a record of 26-27, placing them third in the Eastern Conference Muldoom O'Mulmohery Division.
