Gaedels Drop Phantoms, 6-3, with Late Score

The St. Louis Gaedels topped the Chicago Phantoms, 6-3, in Eastern Conference action at Foster Field. The standout performance belonged to St. Louis pitcher and Toronto, Canada, native Grant Latour. Latour, who leads the EC in complete games with 1, went the distance for St. Louis. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. St. Louis is now 35-19, Chicago 27-26.
Luis Nungaray came through with a big-time hit for St. Louis. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Nungaray said his team "played with determination."
