Portland Beaten, 5-3, by Los Angeles
|
The Los Angeles Stars topped the Portland Dragons, 5-3, in Western Conference action at Stars Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Los Angeles pitcher and Cartago, Costa Rica, native Danny Serrano. Luis Castillo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-2. The save went to Raiko Leon, his 13th this season.
Los Angeles took a 5-3 lead on Mike Bishop's 2nd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Bishop hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Portland pitcher Ryan Mena visibly frustrated.
In comments to the Los Angeles Gazette, Bishop admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
With this game in the books, Los Angeles is 31-24, Portland 33-21.
