The Los Angeles Stars dealt the Minneapolis Vikings a 6-5 loss at Stars Ballpark. Whip Lund was the star on offense. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Getting the save was Luis Jimenez, his 1st. After today's action, Los Angeles sits at 33-25; Minneapolis slips to 37-21.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Mike Bishop came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Minneapolis pitcher Katsuo Nozawa, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 6-5.
