Glaciers Clonk Dragons, 6-2
|
Denver pitcher Kyle Cordle had a large part in his team subduing the Portland Dragons, 6-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Cordle, now 5-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Denver is now 25-34, Portland 32-27.
Nick Majors had a big run-scoring double for the Glaciers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Oscar Mercado, who finished 5th in the WC in wins with 16 last year, and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Glaciers ahead, 2-0.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Majors. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."
