Starting pitcher Taisei Yamamoto gave the Chicago Phantoms a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Houston Aquas, 3-2, at Foster Field. Chicago, at 31-29, occupies second place in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.

Had Hisatoshi Morita not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Morita hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Phantoms.

Morita called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
