Destroyers Get Better of Dragons, 6-1
The San Diego Destroyers picked up a win at Seaward Stadium, knocking off the Portland Dragons, 6-1. Starting pitcher Arturo Covarrubias played a key role in the triumph. The third-place Destroyers now sit at 33-28.

The Destroyers got a big at-bat from first baseman Kas Broekhuizen. For the game, Broekhuizen was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave San Diego a 2-0 lead.

San Diego manager Steve Alstadt said, "I thought we played well in all phases."
