Harfangs Hang 4-2 Loss on Avispas
|
Brandon Nofziger had a good game, but he could not keep the Santiago Avispas from falling, 4-2, to the Montreal Harfangs at Mount Royal Park. The Santiago first baseman went 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Montreal pitcher Mike Merdinger earned the win, hiking his record to 5-3. Beau Eschmann suffered the loss. Bill Mauck got credit for the save for Montreal. It was his 1st of the year.
The Harfangs got a big at-bat from left fielder Bobby Brito. For the game, Brito went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Montreal a 3-1 lead.
Montreal manager Brendan Henry was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
Montreal has a record of 32-29, placing them second in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division.
