The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.

In a close game at Ballpark of Missouri, the Kansas City Athletics edged the Los Angeles Stars, 4-3. Kansas City third baseman Nelson Rivera stood apart with his performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. The first-place Stars have lost 5 consecutive games.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Rivera hit a changeup from Chase Kessler for a solo home run. The Athletics, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Rivera said in his postgame press conference.
