Vikings Suffer 8-4 Home Defeat
|
Despite a fine performance by third baseman Gilberto Cerda, the Minneapolis Vikings lost to the Cincinnati Twins, 8-4. Cerda went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Ken Wellon was the winner. He's now 3-7. The loser was 30-year old left-handed pitcher Juan Pinon. The loss makes Minneapolis 34-30.
Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Geoff Tankersley to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Twins ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
In postgame comments to the Cincinnati Times, Tankersley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
