Cincinnati Defeated by Minneapolis, 4-0
|
The Minneapolis Vikings picked up a win at Minneapolis Grounds, knocking off the Cincinnati Twins, 4-0. Starting pitcher Benjamin Jones played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Jones, now 5-6. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. The win puts Minneapolis at 35-30 this season.
Minneapolis took a 3-0 lead on Eric Newland's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Newland hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cincinnati pitcher Ruben Escobar visibly frustrated.
Said losing manager Ryan Stoops: "Give the Vikings credit. They played a better game than we did."
