Havana took on Philadelphia in front of a lively crowd.
The Havana Metropolitanos had no problem beating the Philadelphia Spectres, 11-1, at Estadio Latinoamericano. Alex Zendejas, who is tied for 6th in the EC with a .934 OPS, led the onslaught. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for Havana. Joyee Cameron, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 9-1.
Alex Arias had a big 3-run home run for the Metropolitanos in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Havana leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a cutter from Tony Madena, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2079 draft, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Metropolitanos on top, 6-1.
Philadelphia manager Ryan Huff called the blowout loss "not my idea of a good time."
The win makes Havana 34-32.
