Senators Halt Nungaray Hit Streak Saturday, June 23rd , 2085 For 24 games in a row, Luis Nungaray of the St. Louis Gaedels had at least one hit. His day of reckoning finally came today at the hands of the Washington Senators, who held him without a hit in 3 at-bats. Making matters worse for Nungaray and the Gaedels, the Senators also won the ballgame by the score of 3-0. "Luis is a great clubhouse presence, and he has done incredible things on the field for us the last few weeks," St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick said, following the game. "We're not going to forget all that just because of a bad day." Thus far this year, Nungaray has hit .298 with 8 home runs and 43 RBIs. |
