Mateus Joins 3-HR Club Wednesday, June 27th , 2085 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Chicago Phantoms. Baltimore center fielder Francisco Mateus tripled up on the home runs to propel the Kings to a win, 13-1, at Foster Field. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Chicago manager Sam J said. "Mateus hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Mateus collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Francisco Mateus singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Taisei Yamamoto in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Taisei Yamamoto in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Teh-huai Yap in the 9th. Thus far this year, Mateus has hit .279 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs. |
