Cyclones Cooper Sizzles with Cycle
Tuesday, August 6th , 2080
Requiring speed, power, and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Karl Cooper, consider that test passed.
The 26-year-old first baseman hit for the cycle at Mountain Dew Park, to help the Miami Cyclones triumph, 14-12, over the Denver Glaciers. All told, Cooper delivered 4 hits in 6 at-bats with 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.
"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."
Karl Cooper tripled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Dryden Ice in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.
On the year, Cooper is hitting .310 with 131 hits, 24 home runs, 89 RBIs, .375 OBP and has scored 70 runs.
