Season-Ending Injury for Matt Lawson
Sunday, September 3rd , 2084
The doctors have spoken and Matt Lawson of the Cincinnati Twins didn't like what he heard. The 29-year-old designated hitter is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Lawson sustained his season-ending injury during the St. Louis Gaedels game yesterday at Veeck Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the Cincinnati medical staff reported Lawson had a broken kneecap and would be absent from the lineup for at least 5-6 months.
In 96 games this season, Lawson has compiled a .303 batting average with 113 hits and 9 home runs. He has also scored 49 times and knocked in 66 runs.
