Thunderbirds Merino Named WC's #1 Player Monday, September 14th , 2076 A hot-hitting week got Juan Merino the Western Conference Player of the Week trophy. He really wore out his welcome with league pitchers. The Phoenix left fielder slammed them for a .550 average, 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and scored 5 runs. In the postgame press conference, Merino shared his hitting philosophy with the BNN scribes: "Just look for the seams and hit between them... nothin' more than that." Looking at his season stats, Merino has compiled a .283 batting average and a .320 on-base percentage, while hitting 7 home runs and driving in 62 runs. |
