San Antonio Goes Hitless Against Gatica
Mario Gatica really did a number on the San Antonio Texicans at Cowboys Stadium -- and that number was zero.

The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Chinooks to victory, 4-0.

"This is something special," Gatica said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."

The right-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 10 and walked 0.

"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," San Antonio manager said when asked about the epic performance. "Gatica was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."

This season, Gatica has fanned 95 in 95.2 innings and collected a 8-4 record with a 2.45 ERA.
