Jackalopes Defeat Astronauts
|
The Ames Lake Jackalopes ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Sudbury Astronauts 5-4 to win the League Championship.
Ames Lake won the series 5-3, capturing the title for the 3rd time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Ames Lake manager . "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 89-31 and claimed first place in the Alpha Conference.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and second baseman Tyler Plantholt said the Jackalopes have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
