Sumos Lose Whiffen for Season
Tuesday, August 6th , 2080
Hicksville reliever Chris Whiffen could miss the remainder of the season because of shoulder inflammation. He exited yesterday's Wichita game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Whiffen would be out 6 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
Whiffen has nailed down 1 save for the year. He has also totaled 22 strikeouts and 2 walks in 17.2 innings while registering a 2.55 ERA and a 1-0 won-lost record.
