Cardenas Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 20
Wednesday, August 21st , 2080
Omar Cardenas saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die during the Saint Petersburg Red Wings win over Norfolk at Norfolk Grounds. The 25-year-old second baseman was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Norfolk Thorns, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 5-3.
"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Cardenas told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."
This year, Cardenas is batting .310 with 7 home runs.
