Riverside Shuts Out Anchorage, 7-0 Friday, August 23rd , 2080 The Anchorage Homesteads manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Riverside Spinners. The Homesteads were overpowered by Riverside starter Willie Arriola, who hurled his club to victory, 7-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said. Over 9 innings, Arriola blanked Anchorage on 5 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Arriola said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." This season to date, Arriola has a record of 5 wins and 2 losses with a 3.36 ERA, has appeared in 10 games and struck out 60 in 59 innings. View Boxscore |
