Cook Hurls No-Hitter
Monday, June 25th , 2085
Davis Cook relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Pawtucket hitless in a win, 3-0, at Barnstormers Ballpark.
"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Patriots off balance and guessing the whole game."
The 25-year-old starter rung up 7 strikeouts and 3 walks in whipping the Patriots.
"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Pawtucket skipper said.
This year, Cook has made 4 starts, thrown 35 innings, fanned 34 batters and walked 10. His won-lost record is 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA.
