Season Over for Adam Mehaffey in Nevada Sunday, July 7th , 2080 The doctors have spoken and Adam Mehaffey of the Nevada Seafarers didn't like what he heard. The 22-year-old closer is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Mehaffey sustained his season-ending injury during the Pawtucket Patriots game yesterday at Ballpark of Mascot. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Nevada medical staff reported Mehaffey had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 11-12 months. This season, Mehaffey has worked 17.1 innings in 21 relief appearances and picked up 12 saves. He has dished out 16 strikeouts and walked 10 with a 1-1 mark and a 1.56 ERA. |
