Ehlen Sensational, 5-for-6 Thursday, July 4th , 2086 Oceanside center fielder Bill Ehlen could do no wrong in his team's 17-8 win over the Longbows, as he collected 5 hits. "Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Longbows skipper said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts." Ehlen agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game. "Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Bill Ehlen singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. In 30 games this year, Ehlen has posted a .318 average and put up these numbers: 1 home run, 9 RBIs and 15 runs scored. View Boxscore |
