5-Hit Barrage by Garza Monday, July 29th , 2080 Oceanside Barnstormers second baseman Carlos Garza had a day to remember at Barnstormers Ballpark, ripping apart the Lexington Partisans and sparking the 9-8 Barnstormers win. Garza wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Garza told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Carlos Garza singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. For the year, Garza is batting .257 with 3 home runs. View Boxscore |
