Venzor Homers 3 Times Against Louisville Friday, August 16th , 2080 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Manny Venzor swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Ballpark of Louisville, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Louisville Stompers were better. The Victoria Seals couldn't capitalize on the big game from Venzor and dropped the contest, 8-7. The mood in the Seals clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Stompers to spoil the day for Venzor. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Victoria manager said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Venzor collected 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Victoria third baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Manny Venzor flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tony Anaya in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Daan Freriksen in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Daan Freriksen in the 9th. This season, Venzor is swinging the bat at a .234 rate with 90 hits in 384 at-bats. To date he has hit 17 home runs, scored 39 runs and driven in 35. |
